PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

 

 

 

Concept Artist- Computer Games

 

2001-2005. Supplied conceptual designs of Characters, Props, Vehicles, Architecture, Settings (including Level map drawings) and Storyboards for various projects including: Microsoft Games / FASA for their MechWarrior line and Zipper Interactive for Socom 3 and Fireteam Bravo.

 

Art Director-  Computer Games

 

         Sierra On-Line - Seattle, Washington, 1998-2001.

 

Projects: Odyssey and Gabriel Knight 3. Worked with the designers to develop story and gameplay concepts.  Visualized these concepts through design drawings, color production sketches and schematics. Directed the art staff in producing models, textures, and animations.  Designed and created artwork for the game interface.

         Dynamix Corporation - Eugene, Oregon, 1995-1998.

Projects: Rama.  Contributed to the game design and story line. Created puzzles and aspects of gameplay.  Visualized the entire look of in-game elements and directed the art staff in bringing them to fruition.  Provided drawings and schematics. Trained staff artists in techniques. Directed outside contractors to maintain continuity.  Provided concept designs for several other games in production.

         Sanctuary Woods Multimedia Corporation - Victoria, British Columbia 1993-1995.

Projects: The Riddle of Master Lu.  Responsible for the overall visual appearance of this 1930's era adventure game. Created conceptual designs and developed gameplay concepts. Oversaw and directed artists and modelers. Expertise with Photoshop.

 

Illustrator  

         Book Covers - Science Fiction and Fantasy, 1976-1993.

Created over one hundred thirty-five book covers for major publishers including Ace, Baen, Bantam, Daw, Penguin USA, Warner Publishing and Byron Preiss Enterprises along with the award winning "Secret of the Knights" for the Bantam Time Machine series.  

          Collectors Cards - Friedlander Publishing Group, 1994.

“The Fantasy Art of Richard Hescox”   Provided artwork for trading card set based on my body of work.  

         Editorial illustration.

Created interior illustrations for Video Games Magazine, Easy Home Computing as well as scientific illustrations for the Dinosaur Dictionary.  

         Posters

Created mass-market posters for Portal Publications and Earth Art Graphics.

 

         Films:  Production Illustrator

Created artwork to facilitate many aspects of motion picture production on films including:

House  (1985), The Eliminators (1984), The Philadelphia Experiment (1983), The Howling (1980), Beastmaster (1980), Planet of Horrors (1980), Nightfall (1980), Alchemist (1980), Wrinkle in Time (1979).

 

         Films:  Advertising Artist

Created advertising artwork for films and television including Santa Claus, the Movie (1986), The Fly (1986), Conan the Barbarian (1984), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1984), The Twelve Chairs (1983), The Neverending Story (1982), The Dark Crystal (1982), The Thing (1982), Halloween II (1981), Swamp Thing (1981), Time Bandits (1981), Escape from New York (1980).

 

         Films:  Storyboard Artist

Created storyboard artwork for Psycho 3 used in advertising and promotion for the film (1985).

 

         Films:  Production Designer

Responsible for the visual design of the film: A Trip To Tomorrow (1983), for Television.
