“The Art of Richard Hescox” website homepage. This site features the Artwork: paintings, drawings, sketches and conceptual design of Science Fiction and Fantasy artist Richard Hescox executed for book covers, magazines, comics, films and computer games.  The range of subjects illustrated by Hescox includes: The worlds of Darkover and of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Fantasy themes from Dragons and Fairies to Angles and Wizards.  Science Fiction genre including Alien Worlds, Space Ships and Spacemen, Future War and Warriors.

 

It also features his Fine Art oil paintings created in a style reminiscent of the late Victorian era artists such as John William Waterhouse, Frederic Leighton, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, William Adolphe Bouguereau, Herbert Draper, Edward R. Hughes and Fernand Khnopff.  These include lyrically painted oils of maidens, sometimes fantastical (sirens, tree nymphs, mermaids) in usually quiet scenes of antiquity.
